Jonathan Cadotte is a freelance artist from Browning, Montana. He is a full blood Indian, and an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe.
Jon Cadotte’s paintings have an exclusive quality embodying his Blackfeet tribal heritage and his involvement in the religion and ceremonies of his people.
Jonathan was born in Browning, Montana, attending the public schools in Browning and graduating from Hemawa High School in 1982.
Cadotte gives credit to his high school art teacher who was a large influence on his art, along with his grandfather Joe Cadotte who created art and encouraged him at an early age.
Cadotte’s paintings have a profound effect on the viewer. The flowing lines in his paintings evoke an endless quality, where color represents the sunrise, sunset, and landscape. Various shades of blues and purple show depth and distance, giving his work a surreal influence similar to many southwestern artists.
You can see more of Jon's art on display at the Musuem of the Plains Indian in Browning, Montana, at the junction of Hwys 89 and 2, near the road to the eastern entrance to Glacier National Park.
