The Round Dance was in earlier times known as The Dance of the Slain. Women were the main performers of this dance, which allowed them to show their pride and mourning at the same time.
Because the Round Dance is a circular chain dance, it is also referred to as a circle dance because the dancers are connected in a circular chain. Various connections are possible; among these are hand-to-hand, hands-on-shoulders, and paired couples.
Today, the Round Dance has evolved into a dance of friendship and is performed by all ages and is easily taught to tourists. Everyone is encouraged to dance by forming a circle and dancing in a clockwise circle. Dance outfits are not necessary.
