Joshua International has given a casting call for a feature film to be shot in 2008. This period piece is set in Tennessee and North Carolina in the mid to late 1700's, the beginning of the Cherokee removal. This screenplay is based on an 8 1/2 year study. The film is Part 1 of a Trilogy that will end with Part 3 in 1842.
The producers are making every effort to stay true to the actual historical events, and are consulting with members of the represented Tribal Governments. This feature film will be shot in North Carolina and Louisiana.
For those that are familiar with Cherokee history, the story is set around Little Carpenter, Old Tassel, Oconostota, Dragging Canoe, Isaac Thomas and Nancy Ward.
They are looking for fresh faces from 18 to 80. Specify if you would like to be considered for a character role, stunts, reenactor, or extra.

Movie Reviews: TV Review: 1st segment of Comanche Moon mini-series Posted on Tuesday, January 15 @ 02:09:52 CST (3875 reads)
|

Reg Seeton
Filmmakers take note; if you're looking for an actor to hold up your
Western, call Steve Zahn. With that out of the way, the long awaited
prequel to the popular Lonesome Dove books-turned-mini-series debuted on
CBS on Sunday, January 13.
After eighteen years, the Pulitzer Prize winning mind of Larry McMurtry comes to life again in Comanche Moon, a powerful pre-Civil War journey across the Western frontier with the younger versions
of Texas Rangers Gus McCrae (Steve Zahn) and Woodrow Call (Karl Urban) as
they search for horse thieves (which includes Adam Beach) and a vicious
Mexican bandit (Sal Lopez) while doggedly hunting for legendary Comanche
war chief Buffalo Hump (Wes Studi).
It's this three-story search that
pushes Comanche Moon forward across its three night run.

Television: Wes Studi, back with host of colorful characters for Comanch Moon mini series Posted on Tuesday, January 15 @ 01:49:31 CST (3135 reads)
|

AUTHOR: Patrick Douglas
It's been nearly 20 years since Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones
introduced television viewers to the charismatic Texas Rangers Augustus
"Gus" McCrae and Woodrow F. Call.
Based on the characters featured in the Larry McMurtry novel of the same
name, 1989's "Lonesome Dove" set the standard for the TV miniseries. His
prequel to that classic tale is "Comanche Moon." It promises to spark a
similar reaction from viewers when the first of three parts airs Sunday on
CBS.
With an all-star cast that includes Val Kilmer, Karl Urban and Steve Zahn,
"Comanche Moon" also features the superb acting talent of Wes Studi, who
plays the role of Comanche leader Buffalo Hump.

|

AUTHOR: Tyrone Beason
Michael Blake, who wrote the novel Dances With Wolves in 1988 and later the 1990 screenplay for Kevin Costner's movie by the same name, has now completed a screenplay based on his latest novel, The Holy Road, which is a sequal to Dances With Wolves. The movie is expected to go into production soon.
Simon Wincer has signed on to direct "The Holy Road" for Moonstone, Amicus Entertainment and Double Eagle Films. Costner's production company passed on it a few years back, when Blake was just beginning the screenplay version.
Wincer most recently directed the Steven Spielberg-produced Emmy winner "Into the West." He also directed the Western miniseries "Lonesome Dove."

Actors - Actress: Independent film explores history of Haskell Boarding School Posted on Saturday, September 01 @ 16:25:26 CDT (3721 reads)
|

AUTHOR: Jon Niccum
The camera slowly dollies in on the stern face of actor Kevin Geer. About
30 cast and crew members crammed into the third floor of the Watkins
Community Museum of History look on.
“This is not a prison. There are no walls. No fences. But there is a
clock,” Geer scolds. “You will learn to respect time.”
“Respect” and “time” are key words on the set of “The Only Good Indian,” a
film that takes place in the early 1900s when respectful treatment of
American Indians was at an all-time low.
