Potawatomi Bingo Northern Lights Casino

New casino proposed near Detroit, Michigan

The Hannahville Tribe of Potawatomi Indians and Romulus Mayor Alan Lambert announced plans to build a $243-million casino- hotel complex on a 24.6-acre site at Vining and Wick Roads, just northwest of Detroit Metropolitan Airport. The property would house approximately 2,400 slot machines, 90 table games, a 200-room deluxe hotel, restaurants and retail space. “We will submit an application in several weeks to the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Washington,” said tribal chairman Kenneth Meshigaud. The plan requires approval from the BIA and a compact with the state of Michigan, along with approval from both houses of the state legislature. The tribe has owned and operated the Island Resort & Casino in Harris since 1993.
