Trail of Tears "Bronze" Statue
[TIP-NY2648-BFJF-TrailOfTearsFig]
 $44.96

Hand-crafted in cold-cast alabastrite and hand-painted, this sculpture looks like it's cast in bronze. It features a couple on the bitter cold winter Trail of Tears. 10" High.

In 1830 the Congress of the United States passed the "Indian Removal Act." In 1838 the United States began the removal of several indian tribes to Oklahoma, many during the dead of winter with little clothing or provisions. Some were taken by boat, but most were marched on foot, with some tribes traveling more than 1,000 miles in 3-4 months. Thousands died along the way from exhaustion, exposure, and starvation.

About 4000 Cherokee died as a result of the removal. The route they traversed and the journey itself became known as "The Trail of Tears" or, as a direct translation from Cherokee, "The Trail Where They Cried" ("Nunna daul Tsuny").

While the Cherokee Trail of Tears is the most famous, many other tribes also had their own Trail of Tears during their relocation march to Oklahoma Territory.

This nataive american themed figurine can be shipped internationally.
