This magnetic hematite necklace is 18" long and has a silver barrel clasp. It features a lovely butterfly carved out of genuine rose quartz stone. The butterfly pendant is approximately 1 3.8" tall by 1 1/4" wide. It is accented with a silver body, small silver beads and polished rose quartz chips.
The Maya describe butterflies as spirits of the dead in disguise as they return to earth. The Zuni say they mean mild weather is coming.
Butterflies can also represent abundance. The Hopi, Zumi, Navaho, Pomo, Paiute, Apache, tribes in Mexico and even prehistoric tribes used butterflies to represent the harvest of summer.
The Hopi ‘Butterfly Clan’ conducts a ceremonial dance called "Bulitikibi," Butterfly Dance, as a plea to the gods for a good harvest. One legend that explains how we got the Ladies Fancy Shawl dance that is so popular in modern day competition powwows attributes it to a butterfly and it, too, is sometimes called the Butterfly Dance.
Butterflies have also been know to symbolize witches due to their inherent transformative abilities and the magic of the witch. The Serbians see the butterfly as the soul of a witch and their concept of the soul may explain why many medieval angels have butterfly wings rather than bird wings or feathers.
It is said the magnetic properties of hematite have healing properties. Hematite stimulates iron absorption in the small intestine, which in turn improves oxygen supply to the body.
Native American folklore states that war paint made from hematite will make one invincible in battle. People in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries wore hematite jewelry during mourning.
Hematite is used to improve relationships. If you need your personal relationship to be better, carry hematite with you always. Hematite jewelry is also said to improve intuition.
