Look Up Buffalo Mother and Calf Original Feather Painting
[1115KAOBJAALookUpBuffalo]
 $135.00  $99.95

This one-of-a-kind acrylic painting is done on a turkey tail feather. The feather is 13" tall and has been sealed with clear poly for protection. The main feather is accented with smaller turkey fluff and pheasant feathers and framed under glass on a black background. The frame is wood and is decorated with a gold bead around the glass. The frame measures 11 1/2" x 19 1/2 inches.

The base of the feather is secured by a piece of turtle shell and has a genuine turquoise stone on top of the turtle shell as the final touch. This painting is signed and dated by Ohio artist Kathy Allen and is ready to hang.

This is the original painting.

The buffalo totem represents abundance and fertility. As a totem the Buffalo will bring confidence to achieve goals. The Buffalo comes to those of independent spirit and a connection to Mother Earth.

The economy of the Plains Indians was based on this animal. It's been estimated that 60 million buffalo roamed North America around 1850. By the early 1900s, less than 1,000 buffalo remained. Due to recent conservation efforts, the buffalo is making a come back today.

There are many legends of marriage between humans and buffalo, and the Lakota People received the Pipe and other sacred ceremonies from White Buffalo Calf Woman, who took the form of a rare sacred white buffalo and promised to return. In recent years, several white buffalo calves have been born.

The turtle totem is a symbol of mother earth and our ability to find happiness on mother earth. Turtle teaches to try and enjoy the journey as much as the final achievement. The turtle shell also symbolizes protection.

As an animal totem, the turkey is called the "giveaway eagle" or the "life giver." It is associated with shared blessings, harvest, fertility, grounding and self-sacrifice.

The pheasant represents family, fertility, and sexuality.

The turquoise stone is one of the oldest protection amulets. If given a turquoise by a loving friend, that stone would protect the wearer from negative energy and bring good fortune. The turquoise is the symbol of friendship. It also brings peace to the home.
