Go Forward with Courage Tile Box
[93844169CPRGoForwardCourageTileBox]
$21.00

This tile box is perfect for stylishly storing knick-knacks, jewelry, or any precious keepsake. Made of solid lacquered Alderwood with inset tile hinged lid. Measures 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" x 2 1/8" deep.

The inscription on the box reads:

When you are in doubt, be still, and wait;
when doubt no longer exists for you,
then go forward with courage.
So long as mists envelop you, be still;
be still until the sunlight pours through and dispels the mists
-- as it surely will.
Then act with courage.
~White Eagle~

This inspirational trinket box contains a quote from the Ponca chief, White Eagle. White Eagle was the principal chief of the Poncas who remained in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) in 1877 when Standing Bear and other Poncas journeyed north to bury Standing Bear's deceased son in their homeland along the Niobrara River in northern Nebraska.

As Standing Bear and his band waged a publicity campaign to retain their homeland, White Eagle's band made the best of their lot in Oklahoma; he reported to a congrssional committee in 1880 that they would elect to stay there.

White Eagle left to history a narrative of the U.S. Army's removal of the Poncas from their traditional lands along the Niobrara River in northern Nebraska.
