This art print is made from an historical photo of an unidentified group of Acoma Indians taken at the Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico by photographer George L. Rose. The date taken is unknown but was probably around 1895.
George L. Rose worked out of a studio in Pasadena, California in the 1890s. He is best known as a children's photographer, but he photographed the Southwest during several journeys with Geogre Wharton James to Arizona and New Mexico.
Around 1895 he took photographs in a Hopi village, at several of the Pueblos, including Oraibi Pueblo, and scenic photos of the surrounding Painted Desert.
