This eagle prayer stick has a simulated eagle feather on a buckskin and fur wrapped handle. The buckskin fringes are decorated with glass, brass, or wood beads.

This could also be used as a talking stick. Originally, talking sticks were used to maintain order in tribal councils. Whoever held the stick had the floor, and no one else was allowed to speak until they passed the talking stick to someone else, signalling they had finished what they had to say on the matter being discussed.
