History of the Anishinabeg (Ojibwe) people.. KEYWORDS: anishinabeg history anishinabe history ojibwe history ojibwa history ojibway history chipewa history chippewa history
The origin of the Anishinabeg begins in this way: "The Great Spirit once made a bird, and he sent it from the skies to make it's abobe on Earth. The bird came, and when it reached halfway down, among the clouds, it sent forth a loud and far-sounding cry, which was heard by all who resided on the Earth, and even by the spirits who made their abode within its bosom. When the bird reached within sight of the Earth, it circled slowly above the Great Fresh Water Lakes, (Kitchi-Gumee) and again it uttered its echoing cry.

The Ojibwe clan system...KEYWORDS: ojibwe clans ojibwa clans ojibway clans clan system Indian clans tribal totems crane clan loon clan fish clan bear clan hoof clan martin clan bird clan
People of all nations in the world essentially have the same basic needs: food, protection, education, medicine and leadership. Traditionally, the Ojibway Clan System was created to provide leadership and to care for these needs. There were seven original clans and each clan was known by its animal emblem, or totem. The animal totem symbolized the strength and duties of the clan. The seven original clans were each given a function to serve for their people.

Boosoo (Hello).
My son, wolves were referred to as the guardian of our spirits.
Wolves are free spirits even though their packs are very organized.
A lone wolf is rarely found in the wild. Wolves are social creatures like you and I. Just as you watch over your sister so does a wolf watch his brother.
