Shoshone-Bannock History in Idaho
PART I OF II: 2008's historic Idaho Democratic Convention, held in Boise, ID, June 12-14, invited Idaho Native American Tribal members from the Shoshone-Bannock/Fort Hall, Shoshone-Paiute/Duck Valley, Nez Perce, and Coeur D'Alene tribal communities to take an active part in the convention activities. On June 12th, the Idaho AFL-CIO hosted a Democratic picnic for convention goers. Mr. Ted Howard, Cultural Resource Director, Duck Valley, spoke to picnic participants about the Shoshone-Paiute-Bannock history in the Boise Valley area. 9:49 minutes.
Part II-Grand Entry, Flag Ceremony and Recessional
All convention tribal members participated in the grand entry at the beginning of the June 13th Idaho Democratic Convention gathering followed by a flag ceremony and presentation by Mr. Lee Juan Tyler, Council Member, Shoshone-Bannock/Fort Hall community. Fort Hall and Duck Valley singers and drummers played songs for the grand entry, flag ceremony and recessional.

Here are a couple recipes for making your own homemade finger paints.
Salt and Flour Finger Paints
Ingredients:
2 cup flour
2 tsp. salt
3 cup cold water
2 cup hot water
Food coloring
Directions:
Add the salt to the flour in a saucepan. Pour in cold water gradually and beat the mixture with an eggbeater until smooth. Add the hot water and boil the mixture until it becomes glossy. Beat it until it is smooth. Mix in food coloring as desired.
Homemade Gelatin Finger Paints
Ingredients:
1/4 cup warm water
1 envelope gelatin
1/2 cup cornstarch
3 Tbsp. Sugar
2 cups cold water
food coloring
dishwashing liquid
Directions:
Soak gelatin in 1/4 cup warm water and set aside. In a medium saucepan, combine cornstarch and sugar. Gradually add water and cook slowly over low heat, stirring until well blended. Remove from heat and add softened gelatin. Divide mixture into separate containers for each color. For each color, first add a drop or two of dishwashing detergent and then add food coloring a drop at a time until you have the shade you want. Store up to six weeks in the refrigerator.
