Books illustrated by Carol Grigg:
The Great Change
by White Deer of Autumn, Illustrated by Carol Grigg
In this gentle tale, a Native-American grandmother explains the meaning of death, or the Great Change, to her inquisitive granddaughter. Evocative pastel watercolors complement the quiet strength of the text, which perfectly captures a child's questions about a frightening subject and responds to them with comfort and respect. -- Copyright © 1993 The Horn Book, Inc. The Singing Snowbear
by Carol Grigg
Snowbear keeps hearing a faraway magical song, so one day he leaves his Arctic home to find its source. He finally discovers the singer is a beluga whale who is stuck in the ice. Snowbear saves him, and the grateful whale teaches Snowbear how to sing. This fairly contrived tale is accompanied by muted watercolor illustrations, which are more interesting for their technique than their vague content. - Copyright © 1999 The Horn Book, Inc.
