Shoshone-Bannock History in Idaho
PART I OF II: 2008's historic Idaho Democratic Convention, held in Boise, ID, June 12-14, invited Idaho Native American Tribal members from the Shoshone-Bannock/Fort Hall, Shoshone-Paiute/Duck Valley, Nez Perce, and Coeur D'Alene tribal communities to take an active part in the convention activities. On June 12th, the Idaho AFL-CIO hosted a Democratic picnic for convention goers. Mr. Ted Howard, Cultural Resource Director, Duck Valley, spoke to picnic participants about the Shoshone-Paiute-Bannock history in the Boise Valley area. 9:49 minutes.
Part II-Grand Entry, Flag Ceremony and Recessional
All convention tribal members participated in the grand entry at the beginning of the June 13th Idaho Democratic Convention gathering followed by a flag ceremony and presentation by Mr. Lee Juan Tyler, Council Member, Shoshone-Bannock/Fort Hall community. Fort Hall and Duck Valley singers and drummers played songs for the grand entry, flag ceremony and recessional.

Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to announce that the scholarship program will be continued for 2008. In 2007 they had one winner from Arkansas and one from North Carolina.
For this scholarship you must write an essay of less than 1,000 words on one of two proposed subjects. You do NOT have to be a minority student to apply.
Eligible applicants include juniors and seniors in high school, as well as undergraduate and graduate or professional students. You must be between the ages of 16 and 30 to apply.
AWARD AMOUNT: $1,000.00
DEADLINE TO APPLY: June 20, 2008
2008 APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on one of the two topics below. Your submissions must be sent by email to scholarships@abbottandfenner.com
• Discuss, in less than 1000 words, what you consider to be the single most important societal problem? Why?
OR
• How has your education contributed to who you are today or how will it affect who you will become? In less than 1000 words, discuss this question.
