Drums and campers galore will head for Stanford University this weekend for the 36th annual Stanford Powwow.
The main event is in the powwow arena across Galvez Street from Stanford Stadium. The traditional dances typically run from 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Some of the traditional dances include men’s traditional, straight, grass and fancy; and women’s Northern traditional, Southern traditional, jingle and fancy dance. There will be junior and children’s categories, as well.
Vendors will have booths selling arts and crafts.
Also scheduled is the 11th annual 5K fun run and walk, which starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Driving Directions:
From 101 (North and South)
Take the Embarcadero Road exit west toward Stanford. Embarcadero turns into Galvez Street at El Camino Real as you enter campus near Stanford Stadium. The Powwow will be to your right--follow the signs to parking.
From 280 (North and South)
Exit Page Mill Rd East toward Stanford. Turn left at El Camino Real. Turn Left at Galvez/Embarcadero near Stanford Stadium. Follow the signs to parking.
